THE CORE

One authority for the whole library.

Core separates what the music is from where a copy happens to live. That gives you one catalogue, proper editions, persistent artwork and one playback state across every Control client.

LIBRARY

Albums, editions and copies

Multiple copies do not become duplicate albums. Remasters, alternate mixes and real editions stay distinct.

INGEST

Bring the collection in

Local and network files, optical media, Bandcamp, audiobooks and supported legacy sources all feed the same catalogue.

PLAYBACK

Tell the truth about the path

Core tracks source, conversion, transport, endpoint and physical output instead of claiming bit-perfect playback when the route cannot deliver it.

BUILT FOR REAL COLLECTIONS

The library is more important than the folder tree.

Core keeps the user's decisions authoritative. Metadata services can help identify releases and artwork, but rescans should not undo a manual correction or turn a second storage copy into a fake second album.

Preserve the master

Original media stays original. Compatibility conversions are playback decisions, not destructive changes to the library master.

Persistent artwork

Chosen artwork belongs to the logical release identity and survives restarts, rescans and metadata edits.

PostgreSQL authority

Core owns the canonical catalogue and revision state; clients consume it rather than independently inventing their own library truth.

Headless by design

Debian 13 runs the appliance. Core Web and Control provide the UI; a customer should not need to live in a Linux shell.

SOURCES & OUTPUTS

Keep old hardware useful. Add new routes around it.

Meridian / Sooloos

Existing libraries and zones can participate alongside Core storage rather than being thrown away.

Sonos & Cast

Core Cast handles supported network renderers including Sonos, AirPlay and Chromecast capability paths.

Core & End

Native endpoints can expose the actual audio capabilities of attached hardware so Core can choose a truthful playback route.

Core OS ISO hardware requirements: A dedicated boot disk of at least 32 GB plus at least one separate music disk. A single physical disk is not supported for automatic media setup in QA11. Run on Debian 13 bare metal or a full VM (at least 4 vCPUs / 8 GB RAM recommended); no LXC.

CORE ON YOUR PLATFORM

Debian, Windows or Mac.

Choose the Core server installer for your operating system. Debian 13 has a 1.0.3 QA8 package and QA11 installation ISO. macOS now has a Developer ID-signed universal QA build (not notarised). Windows Core remains an unsigned Alpha.
