BRIMSTONE CORE · MACOS 12+ · INTEL & APPLE SILICON

Your music. Your Core, on Mac.

Standalone Core engine for compatible Intel and Apple Silicon Macs, with the Core-branded interface, locally hosted catalogue, and native audio support. This is Brimstone Core server, not the separate Control app.

macOS Core 0.4.2 (42) · universal Developer ID-signed QA build. Updated 13 October 2026. Runs on compatible macOS 12+ Intel or Apple Silicon Macs. The Core flower icon and stable album/audiobook shelves are included. This is signed but not notarised, so macOS Gatekeeper may warn or block first launch. Test on a spare Mac with backups; this is not yet a general public release.

Brimstone Core 0.4.2 (42) for macOS

Download the ZIP and extract BrimstoneCore.app into Applications. The two-architecture app contains its Core engine, audio helpers and interface. Existing library state lives separately from the app bundle. No automatic OS-level installation or background-service guarantee is implied.

SHA-256: 8eede7f18b361c0fe308c65d03202822ca92b4629ae891ce6abd50be5a28d09e

Security: Developer ID-signed by Brimstone Cottage but not Apple-notarised. Never disable Gatekeeper globally to run this preview. For unsupported older Catalina systems, the legacy unsigned Intel-only 0.3.6 preview remains archived separately.

CAPABILITIES & LIMITS

Native Core on your Mac.

One music library

Core brings albums, audiobook shelves, metadata, persistent covers, Core and Sooloos sources together. Changing catalogue data should not repaint the shelf while you are browsing.

Intel and Apple Silicon

The same universal binary carries x86_64 and arm64 code. Functional QA has been carried out on an Intel iMac and Apple Silicon MacBook, but wider hardware testing is still needed.

Local network

The Core service uses local HTTP for its internal API. Remote LAN access and any external network entry points must be configured separately and securely. Do not expose Core directly to the public internet.

Testing status

Core was code-signature verified on the test Macs; Apple notarisation and broader release validation remain outstanding. Please submit problems with your Mac model, macOS version and Core logs.
